Social Media Addiction

Social Media Addiction is now a major concern. Are you permanently online? Is your screen time up to 9 hours or more? Do you find it difficult to leave social media even when it’s time to do other important things? If yes, then you might be addicted to Social media. You need to do something about it before depression sets in.

A recent study shows that when people look online and see they’re excluded from an activity – Flawless skin, Fashion trends, Fitness etc, it can affect thoughts and feelings, and can affect them physically. A 2018 British study tied social media use to decreased, disrupted, and delayed sleep, which is associated with depression, memory loss, and poor academic performance.

So if you want to live a happy life, its time to work on the time you spend online, especially apps like IG. It’s not easy but you have to be deliberate about it.

Follow these steps to stop Social Media Addition:

Stop the morning doomscroll

A perfect way to feel like shit for the entire day is waking up and immediately scrolling through Instagram – a platform where no one shares their failures but only perfect photos. You’d only feel left out and that might affect your mood all day. STOP IT now!

Follow & Unfollow or Mute

If you follow so many fashion accounts when you don’t have money to buy yet, you’ll only be influenced to hate yourself. It’s time to unfollow them and follow accounts that motivates and encourages you. When you have money you can come back. Lol. For now, take control of your life. This is a good way to stop Social Media Addiction.

Delete the app and use the web version

I have a friend who has succeeded in reducing her screen time by using only web version of social media apps. Truth is, Instagram is very addictive. it’s not easy to stay off completely. So if you want to force yourself to change, delete it from your phone or set daily limit.  I dare you! Need more tips to stop Social Media Addiction, contact us or drop a comment.
